SMALL CLAIMS COURT

The monetary jurisdiction of Small Claims Court was increased in January, 2010 from $10,000 to $25,000. The Small Claims Court has jurisdiction in any action for the payment of money where the amount claimed does not exceed the prescribed amount exclusive of interest and costs; and has jurisdiction in any action for the recovery of possession of personal property where the value of the property does not exceed the prescribed amount.
